Hidden Gem

Since the days of MP3s I can’t remember the last time I listened to, or actually liked a whole album. These days, I discover a new band, listen to some of their tracks on YouTube, download an album or several, import them to my ipod and weed out the songs I don’t like. I’m usually left with a couple of songs at best and have the attitude that finding one good song is better than none.

But Soul Hooligan’s 2002 album, Music Like Dirt is a rare gem in that it’s the first album in YEARS that I can say I like the entire album. There’s maybe one or two songs that don’t float my boat but the album as a whole has earned a place among my faves with a few special stand out songs like Psychedelic Soul, Addicted and Soul Searching on heavy rotation.

Check it out.
